The Splash and Shelf indicator is designed to find the Splash and Shelf price pattern based on a sequence of fractals. A downtrend pattern is registered when the bottom and top fractals form a spike — an impulse price movement of a sufficient height. The spike is followed by a lower fractal again, forming a shelf. The fourth, upper, fractal must have a maximum below the maximum of the second fractal. The point of intersection of the shelf lines and the line drawn along the upper fractals indicates the moment when the pattern expires.
If up to this point the price has broken through the shelf level, then the pattern is active — a sell signal. The upward pattern splash is formed from the upper and lower fractals, the shelf is the upper fractal, the fourth fractal is the splash forex one.
